JAMMU, July 12: Police claimed here today that they have arrested two drug peddlers with 5 kilograms of Ganja and 4.6 grams of heroin.
A police spokesperson said that a team of Police Station Gandhi Nagar led by SDPO South Sachit Sharma assisted by SHO Gandhi Nagar Police Station Inspector Pankaj Sharma and incharge Police Post Digiana PSI Balbir Singh while on naka duty at near Peer Baba Rani Talab Digiana Jammu rounded up a suspect, who was later identified as Lakeshru Patel of Chhattisgarh at present Greater Kailash, Jammu.
On search of the suspect, he said, 5 kilograms of Ganja was recovered. Accordingly, the accused was booked in case FIR number 172/2023 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
In another operation, the same team of Gandhi Nagar Police Station assisted by PSI Basharat Hussain while on naka duty near Balmiki Chowk, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, rounded up a suspect identified as Hassan Khokhar of 95 Balmiki Colony, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, said the spokesperson.
During search of the suspect, he said, 4.6 grams of heroin was recovered. Accordingly, he was booked in case FIR number 171/2023 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and further investigation taken up.
Further investigations are on in both the cases, he added.
Both the operations were conducted under the overall supervision of SP South Shaheen Wahid.
