SRINAGAR, Jan 1: Police have slapped Public Safety Act (PSA) on two more drug peddlers in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and lodged them in Kathua jail of Jammu Division.
A police official said the “two notorious drug peddlers” namely Ghulam Nabi Bhat alias Setha Kalas of Khawaja Sahib and Naveed Manzoor Najar of Iqbal Colony in Baramulla have been booked under “stringent law of JKPIT-NDPSA and lodged in Kathua jail”.
“The duo has been indulging in nefarious activities of drug traffic for long time. Today’s police action followed after various FIRs were registered against these peddlers and they were arrested under substantive laws at various occasions which proved inadequate to deter them from their activities,” the official said.
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Imtiyaz Husain said several people indulging in drug trafficking in Baramulla have been recently lodged in Kathua and Udhampur jails and action will be taken against all those people who have come into the notice of police for such anti-social activities.
