RAMBAN, Mar 5: Batote Police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 18 kilograms poppy straw and 200 grams cannabis.
As per police sources, on reliable information a team from Police Station Batote laid a naka and intercepted a Punjab bound motorcycle bearing registration number JK14D-7992.
During checking, police team recovered 18 kilograms poppy straw and 200 grams cannabis from the possession of the rider and pillion rider and arrested them on the spot.
The arrested persons were identified as Mohammad Altaf, son of Abdul Aziz of Chack Rakwalana, District Udhampur and Sekander Ahmad Chechi, son of Mohammad Ameen Chechi of District Anantnag.
A case under FIR Number 29/2022 under Section 8/15/20/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Batote and investigation set into motion.
Police team led by SHO Batote Inspector Sudhir Sadhotra made the arrests under the supervision of DySP DAR Ramban Vikar Ahmad Bhat and SP Ramban Mohita Sharma.
