JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, Dec 30: One elderly person died while 217 tested positive for COVID-19 and 270 others recovered in Jammu and Kashmir today.
A 60-year-old man hailing from Digiana in Jammu district died of bilaterally Community Acquire Pneumonia and other ailments in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, Medical Superintendent Dr Dara Singh said.
Among 116 persons, who tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu region, 77 were reported from Jammu district and 19 from Samba. Five cases were reported from Doda, four Kathua, three each Udhampur and Rajouri, two each Poonch and Ramban and one in Reasi district. Kishtwar district didn’t report any Corona positive case today.
Of 128 persons, who recovered from the virus, 80 were in Jammu district, 13 Rajouri, nine Kathua, eight each Ramban and Udhampur districts, six Doda and four in Poonch district while no recoveries were reported from Kishtwar, Reasi and Samba districts.
Jammu region now has 49843 Corona cases. Among them, 1506 are active positives while 47642 have recovered from the virus and there were 695 casualties in the region.
The casualties include 355 in Jammu district followed by 63 Doda, 57 Udhampur, 54 Rajouri, 48 Kathua, 38 Samba, 23 Poonch, 21 each Kishtwar and Ramban and 15 in Reasi district.
Meanwhile, one person died while 11 fresh cases were today reported in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The death as well as all 11 new cases were reported from Leh district.
Ladakh now has 9447 Corona cases including 189 active while 9131 have been treated and there were 127 Corona casualties-84 in Leh and 43 in Kargil.
In Kashmir, 101 persons including eight security force personnel today tested positive for COVID-19 while no death took place in Valley for the first time after several months.
Srinagar reported 48 cases, Baramulla 19, Budgam 11, Kupwara 2, Pulwama 4, Anantnag 8, Bandipora 3, Ganderbal 3, Kulgam 1 and Shopian 2.
Srinagar has 25264 positive cases with 565 active, 24250 recovered, 449 deaths; Baramulla has 7950 positive cases with 114 active, 7664 recovered, 172 deaths; Budgam reported 7593 positive cases with 153 active cases, 7332 recovered, 108 deaths; Kupwara has 5519 positive cases with 124 active, 5304 recoveries, 91 deaths; Pulwama has 5535 positive cases with 184 active, 5263 recovered and 88 deaths; Anantnag district has 4782 positive cases with 101 active, 4598 recovered, 83 deaths; Bandipora has 4643 positive cases with 53 active and 4530 recoveries, 60 deaths; Ganderbal has 4462 positive cases with 77 active, 4342 recoveries and 43 deaths; Kulgam has 2658 positive cases with 64 active, 2541 recoveries and 53 deaths while as Shopian has 2495 positive cases with 93 active cases, 2364 recoveries and 38 deaths.
In Kashmir out of 120744 cases, 3034 are active positive, 115830 have recovered and 1880 have died; 1185 in Kashmir division.
Moreover, 270 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 142 from Kashmir Division.
