JAMMU, June 11: In a major success, City police today arrested two criminals including a police constable and recovered Belgium made revolver and Chinese made pistol from their possession in Gujjar Nagar. With this, police has foiled the plot hatched by the criminals to eliminate one Riyaz Ahmad in the City.
DIG Jammu-Kathua range Ashkoor Wani said police acted on tip off and intercepted two criminals at Gujjar Nagar. Before they could escape, police nabbed them with two weapons.
They have been identified as Jehangir Ahmad, a police constable, son of Haider Ali R/o Janipura and Mohitesh Sharma alias Munna son of Ved Prakash of Shakti Nagar.
A Belgium made revolver was recovered from Jehangir while Chinese made pistol was found in possession of Munna, Wani said.
He added that a major crime has been averted in the City with the arrest of two criminals, who were plotting to kill one Riyaz Ahmad.
Police have booked the criminals under Section 342, 307 RPC and 3/25 Arms Act at Pir Mitha police station.
Police parties headed by SHO Pir Mitha Javed Malik made the arrests under the supervision of SP City Shiv Kumar Chouhan and SDPO City Parbheet Singh.
