Two brothers shot dead, accused held

JAMMU, Sept 7: A man and his brother were allegedly shot dead by a close relative in Chowadhi area of Sainik Colony here.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Chandan Kohli, a man identified as Arun Kumar, (brother-in-law of Amit Jangral), son of Saudagar Ram of Ward Number 5, Chowadi, Sainik Colony, District Jammu fired at Amit Jangral and Rohit Jangral, both sons of Bishamber Dass of Gurha Balderan, Hiranagar, District Kathua.
In this attack, both the victims died on the spot at Chowadhi near Radha Krishan temple and accused fled from spot, the SSP said, adding that a case under FIR Number 147/2021 under Sections 302 IPC and 4/25 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Channi Himmat and investigation started.
The SSP Jammu further said that a dedicated investigation team headed by Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) City East Jammu Bikram Kumar and SHO Channi Himmat Inspector Karan Chalotra assisted by Incharge Police Post Sainik Colony SI Rahul Dogra under the supervision of SP South Jammu started investigation during which vital leads were received.
Taking investigation forward on these vital leads, police arrested the accused along with the weapon of offence i.e licenced pistol and 12 bore gun in a vehicle Volkswagen Polo bearing registration number JK02BD-6070.
During preliminary investigation, it transpired that persistent domestic feud lead to this incident, the SSP said, adding that further investigation into the case is going on.
