Two bootleggers held with illicit liquor

JAMMU, Sept 9: Police in Akhnoor area here today claimed that they have arrested two bootleggers with 46 bottles of the illicit liquor.
A police spokesperson said that a team of Police Station Akhnoor led by SDPO Akhnoor, Mohan Lal Sharma, assisted by SHO Akhnoor, Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq established a naka at Lehar, Sungal near Ashram and rounded up two suspects who were on their way from Akhnoor towards Sungal on a scooty.
“During search, the police team recovered 46 bottles of illicit liquor from the possession of the suspects,” he said.
The accused have been identified as Baldev Raj and Balbir Kumar, both residents of Patan, Mandrian.
Police have booked the accused in case FIR number 253/2023 under Sections 48-A, and 48-F of the Excise Act registered at Police Station Akhnoor and started further investigation.
