Two arrested with cannabis, poppy straw

JAMMU, Apr 23: Two drug peddlers have been arrested with cannabis and poppy straw.
As per police sources, a police team led by Incharge Police Post Narwal SI Achal Rana under the supervision of SHO Bahu Fort Inspector Deepak Pathania laid a naka and intercepted a tanker bearing registration number JK02CC-4025.
During checking, police team recovered 70 to 80 grams cannabis from the possession of the driver and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Lakhvir Singh, son of Chuni Lal, a resident of Kanal Lander Panchari District Udhampur.
A case under FIR Number 127/20 under Section 8/20/25 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation initiated.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Post Roun Domail led by SI Kaku Ram under the supervision of SHO Udhampur Inspector Chanchal Singh and DySP Headquarters Sahil Mahajan laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB07W-4556.
During checking, police team recovered 14 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested one person, who was identified as Parwinder Singh, son of Gurcharan Singh of Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 141/2021 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and investigation started.
