JAMMU, Aug 8: Going paperless, Hand Held Terminal (HHT) service was started today at Jammu Tawi Railway Station by providing Tablets to TTEs for charting and on-line reservation.
Train number 12208/12207 Garib Rath Express, plying between Jammu to Kathgodam and back, was the first train to go paperless.
Tablets were issued to TTEs in the presence of Station Director/Jammu Tawi, Uchit Singhal; SS Jammu Tawi, Jugal Kishore and CIT Jammu Tawi, Yashpal Sharma.
Charts were successfully downloaded on the tablets and working of TTEs was hassle free. Passengers also appreciated the concept as refund of unused tickets was quicker as the remarks of passenger not travelling were given on the tablet itself.
Based on the response, more trains will be issued Tablets for e-reservation and charting to provide quality services to the passengers. This concept ensure reservation on the go i.e at enroute stations as all the tablets are connected to the charting server thus improving efficiency and transparency of the Railways.
