Trump agrees with Obama’s 2011 tweet on countering illegal immigration

MOSCOW, Dec 28: US President Donald Trump said he agreed with ex-President Barack Obama’s 2011 tweet that suggested illegal immigration should be tackled.
“I totally agree!” Trump wrote on Twitter after re posting Obama’s message.
The former president’s tweet read “I strongly believe that we should take on, once and for all, the issue of illegal immigration.”
Notably, Trump’s migration policy has contradicted the measures taken by Obama during his presidency. Particularly, Obama instituted the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) initiative, aimed at preventing people illegally brought to the United States as minors from deportation. The measure was, however, revoked by Trump.
Trump published his tweet amid a row with Democrat senators over including funding for the construction of a wall on the Mexican border, aimed at preventing people from illegally crossing into the United States, into the public spending bill. The disagreement has resulted in a partial shutdown of the US government.
