SAMBA, Mar 29: The local Truck Drivers Union staged a protest demonstration against the Traffic Police and blocked one tube of National Highway near Railway road, Bari Brahmana in district Samba today.
Reports said that, today afternoon a tipper bearing Registration No JK21D- 0633 was parked on the road side of National Highway by the driver of the vehicle near Railway Road Bari Brahmana, this afternoon but the traffic cops punctured the tyres of the tipper. When the driver returned and found the tyres of his vehicle were punctured and people informed him that it was done by Traffic Police, he immediately informed the members of Union and they reached on spot and blocked one tube of Jammu Pathankot, National Highway near Railway road Bari Brahmana.
The protesting members of the Union raised slogans against the DTI and demanding strict action against the said officer.
They alleged that this is felony of Traffic Police and every day the traffic cops are harassing the tipper and dumper drivers without any reason. If the driver parked the vehicle on the side of road and returned after few minutes why the traffic cops punctured the tyres of his vehicle and will this action not tantamount to traffic jam on the road as the driver under this condition was unable to move the vehicle.
The protestors said many people parked their cars on the side of National Highway and went in restaurants and hotels for many hours. Why the Traffic Police did not take any action against them and particularly targeted this vehicle, they asked?.
After receipt the information SDPO Bari Brahmana, Sunil Kesar reached on the spot and tried to pacify the protesters but they demanded strict action against the DTI and cops who created the problem. After the assurance of SDPO the protesters lifted the road blockade and dispersed.
