Trucker nabbed with 500 kg poppy straw

JAMMU, Nov 8: Domana police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested a trucker along with 500 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Domana police station laid a naka and signaled a truck bearing registration number to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased the truck and intercepted it near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 500 kilograms of poppy straw concealed in the apple boxes and arrested the driver.
The arrested trucker has been identified as Mumtaz, a resident of District Poonch.
A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Domana police station and investigation started to ascertain the source and destination of the consignment.
Police team led by SHO Domana Inspector Rajeshwar Singh and assisted by ASI Ashok Kumar seized the consignment and arrested the accused under the supervision of SDPO Domana Surinder Sharma and SP Rural Arun Gupta.
