JAMMU, Oct 15: Police today arrested a truck driver along with 218 kilograms poppy straw from Bantalab area, falling under the jurisdiction of Nagrota Police Station.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, a team from Nagrota Police Station laid a naka at Bantalab on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK01C-3772.
During search, police recovered 218 kilograms poppy straw and arrested the truck driver, who has been identified as Mohammad Younis, son of Ghulam Hassan of Shopian.
A case under FIR number 288/14 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
Police team headed by SHO Police Station Nagrota Parvez Sajjad made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Khalik Choudhary.
