JAMMU, Aug 27: A truck driver died after he accidentally slipped into Ranbir Canal here in Gadigarh area, police said.
They said Gurnam Singh (24) son of Jaswant Singh of Sector-2, Gangyal, was riding a motorcycle when he accidentally slipped into Ranbir Canal at Dharap Village in Gadigarh area around 5 PM on Saturday.
“Soon after the incident, an SDRF team was called in to locate the missing trucker. After hectic efforts, his body was finally fished out from the bank of the Canal around 10 PM on Saturday,” said police.
While the body of the deceased has been shifted to the mortuary of the hospital for conducting the post-mortem police have launched inquest proceedings to further probe the matter.
