RAJOURI, Feb 19: The police seized a truck loaded with 72 bags of CAPD rice at Manjakote, pilferaged from the Government store at Rajouri today.
The police also arrested truck driver, Mohd Shakeel resident of Dudasan Balla in Rajouri. The truck bearing registration No. JK02AL/3887 was also seized along with rice bags.
Acting on the tip off, the police party led by SHO Manjakote organised a naka and intercepted truck this evening. It was established that truck loaded 170 bags of rice from Rajouri store. The consignment was destined for Manjakote as it was clear in the challan issued by Storekeeper Rajesh Kumar.
But the driver off loaded 98 bags at Manjakote outlet and left towards BG with the intention to smuggle the pilferaged stuff. The police party led by SHO Mehmood Khan laid naka and seized vehicle about 4 kms ahead of Manjakote. Investigation was in progress.
