Truck with 17 bovines seized, 2 arrested

RAJOURI, May 24: The police arrested two bovine smugglers carrying 17 cattle in a truck to Kashmir via Mughal Road and rescued them near Thanamandi during early hours today.
A police spokesman said that a police team from Thanamandi foiled a bovine smuggling bid and rescued 17 bovines from the possession of smugglers.
A police team from Thanamandi, headed by SHO, Insp Javed Malik laid a routine naka during the night hours when a truck JK02AP/ 6729 was intercepted near Thanamandi town.
During checking, 17 bovine animals were found loaded in the truck and were rescued.
Driver of the truck, Zaffar Iqbal, son of Mohd Shafi, a resident of Kewal village in Budhal and Mohammad Shafi, son of Kanga, resident of Kotranka have been arrested while a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Thanamandi Police Station in this connection.
