Truck plunges into gorge, 4 killed

RAMBAN, Apr 25: Four persons were killed when the truck they were traveling in skidded off the road and plunged into 400 feet deep gorge near Khooni Nallah on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The cattle-loaded truck bearing registration number JK14C-9286 was on its way to Kashmir from Jammu, when the driver lost control over the steering resulting the vehicle rolled down into 400 feet deep gorge at Khooni Nallah.
On getting information, police, Quick Rescue Team (QRT) volunteers, Red Cross volunteers and local rushed to the spot and started rescue operation.
The bodies of all the four occupants were recovered and shifted to District Hospital Ramban.
The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Abass, son of Haji Ghulam Rasool Wani of Gund, Banihal, Mohammad Fisa, son of Sehraj Din Gujjar of Bali nallah, district Udhampur, Mohammad Rafiq, son of Abdul Rashid and Parvaiz Ahmed, son of Mehmood Bakerwal, both residents of Kokernag, Kashmir.
The bodies have been handed over to family members after conducting autopsy.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Ramban police station and investigations started.
