JAMMU, Apr 27: Police arrested a truck owner and driver along with over 12 kilograms of charas from Bhathindi area.
As per police sources, on reliable information, police team laid a naka at Bhathindi and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK02Al-5781 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot.
Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 12.30 kilograms charas from the vehicle and arrested the truck owner and the driver.
The accused have been identified as driver Kali Dass, son of Som Nath and Asha Singh (truck owner), son of Babu Ram of Badyal Brahmana RS Pura.
During questioning, the accused revealed that they had brought the contraband from Srinagar for selling it among the youngsters.
With the arrest of the accused, police achieved a major success for saving the future of the youngsters from falling prey to drug abuse.
A case under FIR Number 73/16 under Section 8/20 narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Trikuta Nagar police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Trikuta Nagar Inspector Kuldeep Khajuria and assisted by Incharge Bhatindi police post SI Mukhtiar Ali made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO East Chandan Kohli and SP South Shaazad Salaria.
