Truck drivers allege charging of excess toll

JAMMU, May 10:  Narwal Truck Drivers Association Jammu has demanded action against the Excise Sub-Inspector at Lower Munda Toll Post, who was allegedly charging three times excess toll.
The demand was made  during a meeting of the Association, held  today  under the chairmanship of general secretary Harbinder Singh, who alleged  that the said  Sub-Inspector at window number  8 was   looting the truck drivers and whenever  reason for charging excess toll was  asked,  the drivers are threatened of  imposing fine.
The Association members claimed that despite their repeated attempts to lodge a complaint in this respect, they were unable  to meet ETO Lower Munda, who  remains absent from duty while his mobile number also remains Switched off.
According to the Association members, the said Sub-Inspector was transferred and attached to Kashmir  office last year following complaints against him but he managed his posting again at Lower Munda. “There are some other Sub-Inspectors also, who have not been transferred from Lower Munda for the last eight years for the reasons known to each and everyone, the members said and appealed the Finance Minister to personally look into the matter so that Lower Munda Toll Post could get rid off Gunda Raj.
Those who spoke in the meeting included Jai Paul Singh, Shafqat Ali, Tajinder Singh and others.
