Truck carrying 10 bovines seized, 2 held

SAMBA, July 2: The police foiled a bid of smuggling ten bovine animals in a truck and arrested two persons in this connection in district Samba today.
A police spokesman said that during early hours today, a police party led by SHO Rajinder Khajuria, intercepted a truck at Bus Stand Samba. Ten bovine animals were loaded in the vehicle bearing registration No. JK02AB/8295. The driver tried to flee towards Mansar.
The police party chased the vehicle and intercepted it near Mansar Morh. The police arrested the driver and another person sitting in the vehicle. They were identified as driver Vijay Kumar, son of Amar Nath of Sunderbani and Mashkoor Ahmed, son of Mohd Rafi, resident of Batote.
They were carrying bovine animals to towards Kashmir from Kathua border area. The vehicle along with animals was also seized and a case registered against the accused persons. They had no valid documents with them.
