SAMBA, Apr 18: An impressive function was held today at Diani to pay floral tributes to late SN Manyal on his birth anniversary.
S N Manyal, the retired Superintendent Engineer, the native of the area had endeared himself to the masses of Samba due to his hard work and devotion to duties. He was instrumental in the construction of Ravi Canal Kathua – one of the most successful projects of RTIC department which irrigates thousand hectares of land in Kathua and Samba districts.
Father of former Health Minister Dr Devinder Manyal, the departed engineer had contested Assembly elections from Samba constituency. The people cutting across party lines and belonging to cross sections of the society from Jammu, Samba and Kathua were present on the occasion.
Prominent persons who paid floral tributes to the departed leader include RL Bharti, former member of J&K Public Service Commission, Dr Devinder Manyal, former Minister for Health and Medical Education, Ratan Chand Karotra, former SP, Bodh Raj Dogra, former Chief Engineer, Noor Hussain former MLC, Chander Uday Singh, senior leader NC, Omkar Padha, secretary BJP, Pawan Kohli, president Municipal Committee, Samba, Bodh Raj Rao, former SP Prosecution, Nar Singh Manyal, senior Law Officer, Col SN Dogra and Dev Raj, former president MSS Samba.
A number of Sarpanches, Panchs and Councillors of Samba Municipal Committee were also among those who paid floral tributes. A two minutes silence was also observed as a mark of respect to the departed leader.
