RAJOURI, Nov 11: The Balidan Bhavan Committee, Rajouri organised a ‘prayer meet’ to pay tributes to the martyrs of Rajouri who voluntarily sacrificed their lives defending the motherland from invaders of Pakistan on this day in 1947.
The Balidan Bhavan Committee, Rajouri was joined by Advocate Vibodh Gupta senior BJP leader, Kuldeep Raj Gupta and other senior citizens of the district in paying tributes to martyrs.
Speaking on the occasion, president Balidan Bhavan Committee, Rakesh Gupta shared various stories of valour shown by the people of Rajouri while defending the motherland from enemies. He also asked everyone to observe a two-minute silence for the martyrs.
In his address, senior BJP leader, Vibodh Gupta said that on this day in 1947 our forefathers showed utmost bravery against the enemies and fought till the last man and the last breath. “Kabailis along with the local miscreants killed almost 10,000 unarmed and innocent locals including women and children in a very brutal way,” he added. Further sharing the details of the day, Gupta said that when the local residents were suddenly attacked by thousands of Kabailis, the local Hindus bravely fought with them so as to save their motherland.
While paying tearful tributes to those martyrs Vibodh said that as a result of the sacrifices of those people, Rajouri will always be remembered as a land of sacrifice and unsung heroes.
Gupta further said that the valour shown by our ancestors has no parallel in the history of the world and appealed everyone to narrate these stories of supreme sacrifices to the young ones so that the generation after generation could draw inspiration and sense of patriotism from them.
On this occasion, he also stressed upon the need to properly document such brutal incidences of the Kabailis of Pakistan so that the rest of the world must know about such heinous crime in history.
Speaking on the occasion senior BJP leader, Kuldeep Raj Gupta said that this day marks a very important day in the history of Rajouri. He said that the sudden attack by armed Kabailis was completely resisted by the unarmed people of Rajouri which prevented Kabailis onslaught on other places. Krishan Kumar also spoke on the occasion. Other prominent citizens who paid tribute were Hardesh Gupta, Harbhans Gupta, Subash Sharma, Sham Mathur, Vijay Gupta, Sunil Gupta, Koshal Gupta, Pushpinder Gupta, Vikas Dutta and Nishu Gupta.
