JAMMU, Oct 21: To pay tributes to the police personnel, who laid down their lives while guarding the sovereignty and territory of our country, 56th National Police Day popularly known as Police Commemoration Day was observed across the State.
Jammu and Kashmir Police today observed National Police Day at Gulshan Ground, where Deputy Chief Minister took salute at the Commemoration Day Parade in presence of Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Choudhary Lal Singh, MLA RS Pura, Dr Gagan Bhagat, MM Khajuria Retd DGP, Dr Ashok Bhan Retd DGP, Madan Lal, Rtd ADGP, IGP Jammu, Danish Rana, DIG Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, SP Headquarters Jammu, Randheer Singh and family members of martyrs.
Floral tributes were also paid to police martyrs. Various contingents of different wings of J&K Police participated in Commemoration Day Parade which was commanded by SP Adil Bashir. A blood donation camp was also held. All the dignitaries thereafter interacted with next of the kin of Martyrs and assured them that the welfare of the families is on the top most priority. Among others present were Divisional Commissioner Jammu Pawan Kotwal, DDIB, Baljeet Singh, Spl DG CRPF SK Bhagat, Dy GOC 26 Div Randheer Singh, Yoginder Koul IGP IR, Shafkat Ali Watali, IGP Armed, Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, DIG JKS range, DIG CRPF Narinder Singh, DC Jammu Simrandeep Singh, Uttam Chand SSP Jammu, Colonel Manoj Kumar from Army Hqrs NC, etc. Later, in the evening rich tributes were paid by all the police officers led by IGP Jammu Danesh Rana-IPS at the J&K Police Martyrs Memorial, Rail Head, Jammu.
National Police Day was observed at District Police Lines, Shah Balode, Samba. While paying tributes to the martyrs, Joginder Singh, SSP Samba said that the day is of special significance for the policemen all over India. SSP also read out the names of all the martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the Nation. Commemoration Day Parade was also conducted at District Police Lines, Samba, wherein tributes were paid to martyrs. In the function, Devinder Maniyal, MLA Samba, Kuldeep Kumar, MLA Hiranagar including number of dignitaries, Prominent persons, Retired Police, Army, BSF personnel, members of Civil Administration, all the police officers/jawans of District Samba besides 20 families of the Police Martyrs of District Samba were invited to attend in the function. Gift packs were distributed among the NOKs by MLA Samba, MLA Hiranagar and SSP Samba alongwith other dignitaries as a token of honour. In the last, all the dignitaries alongwith the Martyr families visited the Martyr Gallery in District Police Lines, Samba. MLA Samba donated Rs 1 lakh for the welfare of the families of martyrs. At the end of Police Commemoration Day Function, a blood donation camp was also organized jointly by District Police Samba and 97 Battalion BSF at Panjtilla Samba.
National Police Day was observed in District Police Line Kathua. The contingents of IRP 19th Battalion, PTS Kathua and District Police Kathua under the command of Rakesh Sambyal, Sr. PO, Parade Commander took part in the Commemoration Day Parade. Besides, 28 families of the martyrs, the prominent citizens of the Kathua and the ex-police personnel also attended the function and paid floral tributes to the martyrs. SP Kathua Neeva Jain took the salute and read out the names of all the brave hearts who laid their lives in the year 2014-2015. She also presented the blankets to the family members of the martyrs as token of remembrance. During interaction with the family members, SP Kathua assured to redress all the issues raised by them. Rajeev Jasrotia, MLA Kathua, Ramesh Kumar, DC Kathua, Sanjeev Khajuria, Principal PTS Kathua, Nisar Mohd, 2nd IC, CRPF 121 Bn, Ajay Kumar Sharma, DySP Hqrs. Kathua, SHOs and other Police officials were also present on the occasion.
Police Commemoration Day was observed at District Police Lines, Ramban, wherein SSP Ramban, Randeep Kumar led the officers and personnel of J&K Police, 9th Battalion IRP and 160 Battalion CRPF and paid floral tributes to the martyrs. MLA Ramban, Neelam Kumar Langeh, District Development Commissioner Ramban Bashir Ahmed Dar, ADC, Babu Ram, Commandant IRP 9th Battalion, Rajesh Sharma, Commandant Bihar Regiment, Col. Lohanaro, ACR, Vivak Puri, and ASP Arun Gupta were also present on the occasion. Traditional police salute with ‘Shok Shashtra’ (turning their weapons up-side down) was performed by the armed and police personnel to pay tributes to the martyrs. Earlier, SSP Randeep Kumar read out the names and ranks of all 473 martyrs including 48 in Ramban of the JKP and Para Military Forces who were martyred in J&K. On the occasion, MLA Neelam Kumar Langeh, DDC and SSP honoured the family members of martyrs and listened to their grievances and assured redressal.
Police Commemoration Day has been observed at DPL Reasi. The function was attended by officers from Civil and Police Administration, prominent citizens and family members of martyrs. They also witnessed the commemoration day parade. After culmination of parade, Sujit Kumar, SP Reasi alongwith Shiv Kumar Gupta, Additional DC Reasi, Mohammad Jahangir, Principal STC Talwara, Sanjay Singh Rana, Additional SP Reasi, Sumir Kotwal, Additional SP Katra, Davinder Singh, CPO Reasi, Jugal Kishore, DySP DAR Reasi, Mohan Lal, DySP Headquarters, Reasi, Dr Ashok Kumar, SDPO Katra, Zaffal Iqbal Nawaz, SDPO Arnas and Rajesh Gupta, DySP Telecom Reasi distributed blankets among the family members of the martyrs as a token of respect. While interacting with family members of the martyrs, SP Reasi assured them all possible help.
Police Commemoration Day was observed at Police Lines Choglamsar. On the occasion family members of four martyrs of JKP Ladakh including Sub Inspector Stanzin Norboo, ASI Sonam Dorjey, Constable Shabir Hussain and Constable Ghulam Abass were honoured. In respect of martyrs, gifts were also given to the family member of martyrs by Deputy Commissioner, Leh Parasanna Ramasawami G in presence of Army, CRPF and ITBP officers. SSP Leh Dr Sunil Gupta who was the chief guest on the occasion read out the names of 437 martyrs of police and para-military forces who laid their lives for the nation in entire India in the past one year out of which 24 martyrs are from the J&K State. Earlier, flowers and Khataks were presented on the Amar Jawan Memorial by DC Leh in presence of SSP Leh, police officers, President BJP, Leh, Dr Sonam Dawa, President PDP Tashi Gyaltson, Dr Tsultim of NLM and various religious heads.
Police Commemoration Day was observed in Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI) Vijaypur. Ranjit Kanwar, SSP, Principal, PTTI Vijaypur presided over the function and read over the names of all 434 security personnel who sacrificed their lives while performing their duties across the country. A Commemoration Parade was held as a mark of respect to the martyred security officials. Ranjit Kanwar along with VK Jamwal, Vice Principal, KK Zutshi, Dy SP (Admn), Ashok Kumar Chib, DySP (Outdoor), Satish Sharma, DySP (Tech), Madan Lal, DySP (R&D/Security), Romesh Chander, Sr PO, Riaz Ahmed, Sr PO and Staff/trainees of PTTI Vijaypur placed wreaths on the Martyrs memorial. The function was also attended by the retired Police personnel, family members of Police Martyrs and prominent citizens.
56th National Police Day was observed at DPL Udhampur. Surinder Gupta, Dy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Range presided over the function and offered guard of honour to the police martyrs. Mohammad Suleman Choudhary, SSP Udhampur while paying homage to these martyrs, read over the names of all the martyrs who scarified their lives in the service of the nation. The families of police martyrs of District Udhampur, Pawan Gupta, Minister of State for Finance and Information Technology, Shahid Iqbal, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, retired Police personnel, prominent citizens, Mohan Lal Kaith, Additional SP Udhampur, Gourav Mahajan, DySP Headquarters Udhampur were also present. Gifts were also presented to the family members of martyrs.
