RAJOURI, Jan 22: The Jammu and Kashmir Police along with Civil Administration and other security forces on Wednesday paid rich tributes to the martyred, Special Police Officer who laid down his life while fighting militants in Awantipora area of Kashmir on Tuesday.
SPO Shahbaz Ahmed was a part of police team taking part in a Counter Insurgency operation in Awantipora when he received bullet injuries and later succumbed.
The body of the martyr was on Wednesday morning airlifted from Srinagar to Jammu and then to Manjakote where senior officers received the body at a helipad from where it was taken to martyr’s native village, Hayatpura.
A wreath laying ceremony was organised at Hayatpura where senior officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police, civil administration and army took part while thousands of locals also attended the last rites.
With full Police traditions, tributes were paid to the martyr cop who was later buried at ancestral graveyard.
J&K Police will remember the martyr who laid down his life for the motherland and set an example of bravery.
Six months ago, the martyr had volunteered for serving in Kashmir and was posted in valley since then.
Senior Police officers present on the spot assured the family members of martyr that every jawan and officer of Police family was with the aggrieved family and shall provide all assistance to the family in the future as well.
