SAMBA, Sept 28: Kirti Chakra, Awardee Lieutenant Sushil Khajuria’s 9th Martyrdom Day was observed today in his native village Sangwali in district Samba.
Due to COVID-19 some people of their village along with school children’s including family members and relatives of martyr attended the function and paid glowing tributes to him.
Lt. Khajuria had attained martyrdom on September 28, 2011 while taking on the terrorists in Kupwara Sector of North Kashmir. He continued to fight militants till his last breath for which he was awarded Kirti Chakra posthumously.

On this occasion, the martyr’s father, Som Dutt Khajuria, his mother, Nirmala Khajuria, his brothers Sunil Khajuria and Anil Khajuria and his sister, Deepika Khajuria along with his relatives, offered flowers on the statue of the martyr.
People of village said that “They lauded the gallantry of martyr and said entire nation feels proud of such brave soldiers who fought against the enemy till their last breath.”
