JAMMU, Mar 24: Rich tributes were paid to Communist leader Com Abdul Sattar Ranjoor on his 23 death anniversary.
During a programme in this regard, which was organized by Communist Part of India, the speakers recalled the sacrifices of Com Ranjoor, who was shot dead by militant on March 23, 1990 and his pioneering role in building the Communist movement in Jammu Kashmir. A two minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed leader.
Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister A R Rather described Abdul Sattar Ranjoor as beacon of light to the State’s progressive movement, particularly Kissan Movement.
B L Saraf struck an emotional note while describing Com Ranjoor’s role as a friend, philosopher and guide while MLA Mohd Yusuf Tarigami highlighted several qualities of head and heart of the departed leader.
Others who spoke on the occasion, included Com Kamal Dev, Com Abdul Rehman, Rakesh Kumar, Mohd Yusif, M K Dass and Amarjit Singh.
