JAMMU, Apr 14: On 123rd birth anniversary of Bharat Ratan Baba Saheb Dr B R Ambedkar, rich tributes were paid to the founding father of Indian Constitution and Masih of Dalits.
An impressive function was organized by the state unit of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations under the leadership of its State president R K Kalsotra at Ambedkar Chowk where the statute of Baba Saheb was garlanded by all the participants.
Mr Kalsotra threw light on life and mission of Ambedkar. He also demanded that the State Government should build a Grand Bhawan in the name of Baba Saheb to honour him.
A colorful program was organized in which the students of Ambedkar Group of Schools displayed their talents by presenting dances and singing songs on the life and mission of Baba Sahib.
Others who spoke on the occasion, included  Gian Chand Dogra,   Ramesh Sarmal ,  Vijay Bhagat, Vijay Lochan, Tej Ram Dogra, Chaman Lal Kanethia, Krishna Bangotra, Ramesh Bhagat and  GL Bhagat.
Bahujan Samaj Party celebrated birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar by organizing a function at the party headquarters in Narwal Pain, Satwari, under the chairmanship of B D Thapa while Ashok Bhagat and Charan Dass were chief guest and guest of honour, respectively, on the occasion.
The speakers paid tributes to Dr Ambedkar and highlighted his service towards the society, particularly down trodden sections. They exhorted the Dalit Samaj to follow the teachings of Dr Ambedkar.
J&K Pradesh Congress Committee recalled the services of Dr B R Ambedkar on his birth anniversary, today. Remembering the contributions of Dr  Ambedkar, Congress party described him as a father of Indian Constitution, whose services as Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee will be remembered for all times to come. The party described him as a messiah of down-trodden and weaker sections of the society.
Glowing tributes were paid to Dr Ambedkar on his birth anniversary at a specially held function at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this morning with senior National Conference leaders highlighting his role as a social reformer of highest order and statesman par excellence.
Organized by SC/BC Cell of NC, the leaders threw light on the multi-faceted persona of Baba Saheb  describing his as the architect of Indian Constitution. “Best way of remembering the Messiah of down trodden is to strengthen amity and working towards realisation of his dream of a just society where every segment of population enjoys equal opportunities of progress and development”, said Babu Rampal, chairman of the Cell and former Minister.
Provincial secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Pardeep Bali, Pinki Bhat, Dilshada Malik, Om Dalmotra and Ramesh Motton were among those who spoke on the occasion.
BJP Anusuchit Jaati Morcha remembered Dr B R Ambedkar and paid rich tributes to him on the birth anniversary. On the occasion, State BJP general secretary Kavinder Gupta highlighted significance of the day and threw light on mission as well as achievements of Dr Ambedkar. The Morcha president Surinder Bhagat, State BJP Press secretary Balbir Ram Rattan, Puran Chand Bhagat, Parmodh Kapahi, Subash Jandial, Lokesh Bhagat, Raj Kumar Tafani and others also spoke and pledged to work for upliftment of down trodden in the society.
BJP Akhnoor unit also organized a programme at Akhnoor in which floral tributes were paid to B R Ambedkar on his birth anniversary.  The function was organized under the chairman ship of BJP district president Daljit Singh Chib attended by  other party leaders and workers including senior leader of Khour block Chaman Lal Kanathia, Narayan Sharma, Puran Sharma, Pt  Mela Ram, Shamsher Singh, Krishan Sharma, Vinod Kumar and others.
R S Pura Mandal of BJP also celebrated birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar by organizing a function under the leadership of S Harbhajan Singh Pammi, Brijesh Rana, Dr Gagan Bhagat and others.
To commemorate the birthday of Dr Ambedkar, a function was organized by the Jammu University SC/ST Employees Association in Press Club, Jammu here, today. The Association president R L Kaith, general secretary Om Parkash and former president of JU Non-Teaching Employees Union, Surjeet Singh Heer recalled the services of Dr Ambedkar to Indian society. They also appealed the JU Vice-Chancellor to establish Dr B R Ambedkar Chair in the university, as already agreed in principle by the Academic Council in 2008.
On the occasion, the Association presented ‘Dr B R Ambedkar Award’ to Engineer H R Phonsain in recognition of his constant and valuable services to promote teachings of Baba Saheb among public.
Prominent among those, who participated in the function, included Retd Bench Secretary, J&K High Court R L Karloopia, Advocate Ashok Kumar Bassotra, Dr Chander Shekhar, Dr Tirath Ram, Dr V K Shivgotra, Dr Parshotam Kumar, Dr Rakesh Attri, Dr Parmodh Kumar Singh and others.
Shri Vishwakarma Library and Research Centre, New Plot, celebrated birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar by organizing a function under the leadership of  R C Angotra and R L Chargotra.  Speakers, on the occasion, paid rich tributes to Dr Ambedkar and recalled his great services for upliftment of the down trodden in society.
All J&K Mahasha Sadar Sabha organized a function under the leadership of N D Rajwal to pay tributes to Dr Ambedkar on the birth anniversary. Participants on the occasion garlanded portrait of Dr Ambedkar and threw light on the life and valuable contribution of the father of Indian Constitution.
Shakti Punj, a social organization of Hiranagar, celebrated birthday of B R Ambedkar in its office with great fervour. Members of the organization garlanded the photo of B R Ambedkar and paid him rich tributes. President Kuljeet Singh while highlighting achievements of Dr Ambedkar, said that the latter always stood by the poor and down trodden people and he was a real social worker.
Ambedkar’s birth anniversary was celebrated by Samajik Jagriti Munch Kishtwar under the chairmanship of  Mangat Ram  in the premises of Ambedker School Kulid, Kishtwar. Speakers on the occasion appealed the SC community to  wake up and work together  against the mafia trying all time to hit the reservation benefits. It was stressed upon all audience to follow the three point formula, Educate, Unite and Agitate.
Baba Sahib Dr B R Ambedkar Welfare Society, Rajouri and Guru Ravi Dass Sabha of Rajouri City, Phalayana and Dhawan celebrated 123th birth anniversary of Bharat Rattan Baba Sahib Dr B R Ambedkar at Guru Sabha Bhawan, Ward number 9 City, Rajouri in which prominent persons of all walks of life participated and paid floral tributes to the champion of reservation. S P Langeh, president of  Baba Sahib Dr  B R Welfare Society, Rajouri, who was chief guest on the occasion,  demanded political reservation for ST community.
