Tributes paid to Ashok Chakra awardee Subedar Chuni Lal

BHADERWAH, June 22: To pay tributes to Veer Chakra and Ashok Chakra awardee, late Naik Subedar, Chuni Lal on his death anniversary, a shanti havan and langar was organised here at the Village Bhara Kellar.
President, Sanatan Dharm Shaba, Ashok Kotwal, district president, BJP, Daleep Singh Parihar and district president, Vishva Hindu Parishad, Satish Kotwal were among the prominent persons, who paid floral tributes to late Naib Subedar Chuni Lal.
While throwing light on the sacrifices made by the Chuni Lal, entire congregation made it a point to learn lesson from the sacrifice of Chuni Lal. Everybody remembered the departed soul with due respect.
Addressing the Shardanjali Saba, Ashok Kotwal said that Naib Subedar Chuni Lal was a daring soldier of JAK LI Regiment with an enviable record of combat experience. For his gallantry acts, he was awarded Sena Medal and Veer Chakra (in 2002) and Ashok Chakra (Posthumous).
During June 2007, Naib Subedar Chuni Lal while commanding an ambush party near the LoC was engaged in a fierce fire fight with militants. Though grievously injured, he charged at the terrorists and killed three of them before succumbing to his injuries.
This event was attended by a large number of youth, locals and school children of Khellar area. Chinta Devi, widow of Shaheed Chuni Lal and his children Arti Devi, Manju Devi and Manveer Singh were also felicitated by the dignitaries on the occasion.
