Treat State Subject as domicile: KPC

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, May 25: Kashmiri Pandit Conference ( KPC ) has demanded that the State Subject holders and  registered KP migrants should not be asked to apply for domicile certificate but treated as domicile of J&K.
In a press release issued here, today Kundan Kashmiri, president KPC stated that it is most unfortunate to mingle new registration of KPs with domicile status to JK as well as to obtain domicile certificate by already State Subject Certificate (PRC) holders  and registered KP migrants which is totally an exercise in futility. He said registration of non— registered KPs with Relief Commissioner office is welcome step, which was their long pending demand with Government but asking the registered migrants to apply for domicile will be time consuming and increase the work load on the concerned office also.
He demanded that State Subject holders and already registered KP migrants should not be asked to apply for domicile certificate, but directly treated as domicile for JK UT and also appealed the Government to initiate a talk process with displaced KPs and to listen their basic demands and concerns which include grant separate Kashyap Bhoomi for their permanent settlement in the Valley.
Besides, he demanded constitution of Commission of Inquiry for their forced exodus, recognization and reversal of their ethnic cleansings as well as other Confidence Building Measures (CBM) like rehabilitation of over age KP youths, nullification of distress sale, protection to their shrines and temples under law, compensation of losses suffered due to displacement and other issues.
