JAMMU, Dec 31: Representatives of Jammu Province Transport Welfare Association today said that they would take a final decision regarding their proposed strike from January 2 in a core group meeting being held tomorrow.
Anil Chopra, a member of the Association told the Excelsior that several representatives of Transport operators and groups including Davinder Singh, Vijay Sharma, K D Singh, Bharat Bhushan Gupta, D K Mehra and others had a detailed meeting with the Transport and CAPD Minister Ch Ramzan here today. The Minister has shown keen interest in resolving the issue of fare hike of the transport operators.
Mr Chopra said that the meeting was held under cordial atmosphere and the minister has assured to resolve the issue in next cabinet meeting. He said the Core group of the Association has decided to hold emergency meeting tomorrow at 11 am and the final decision regarding proposed strike will be taken tomorrow.
Meanwhile, an official spokesman said that a delegation of Transport Association and Group Operators met the Transport Minister Ch Mohd Ramzan today. They put forth their demand for revision of passenger fare in view of hike in fuel prices. Responding to their demand, the minister assured the transporters that a holistic view of the same would be taken to redress their demand. The minister appealed the transporters to withdraw their proposed strike in the interest of general public.
