JAMMU, Feb 10: A general body meeting of all transporters of the State was held under the chairmanship of S.T.S Wazir , Chairman All J&K Transport Welfare Association in which the presidents and other representatives of All Commercial Transport vehicles Association including buses, trucks, tankers, matadors, taxies and auto rikshaws Unions were present.
Addressing the meeting T S Wazir said that the representatives of transporters approached various times to the State Government for totally waiving off Passenger Tax and withdrawal of increased fee , taxes imposed by Central Government w.e.f December 29, 2016.
He said after the intervention of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, Finance Minister, Haseeb Drabu and Principal Finance Secretary, Naveen Kumar Choudhary, the State Government exempted past arrears of Passenger Tax to all commercial vehicles of the State up to December 31, 2017 under SRO No 69 of 5-2-2018 and also granted some relaxation in increased fee and taxes to the transporters of the State. Wazir expressed the hope that State Government will also take some positive steps towards the welfare of the transporters of the State.
