‘Transporters can pay Passenger Tax on quarterly basis’

JAMMU, Jan 4: All J&K Transport Welfare Association has claimed to have raised issues of transporters before Secretary and Additional Secretary of Transport Department and Transport Commissioner, RTO and ARTO Jammu.
Addressing a press conference here today Association chairman, Ajit Singh said that Committee of Transport Department has said that no VLTD is mandatory for passing of any kind of commercial vehicles like trucks, buses, taxis and mini-buses in J&K.
He further informed that Passenger Tax to be filled on quarterly basis, the permit fee to be charged on old fee structure for due permits since 2018 and problem faced in NIC software will be redressed by the RTO otherwise the issue can be taken to the Ministry of Electronics and IT.
Singh also said that the matter of charging of fitness fee on all commercial vehicles is under active consideration and the owners of blacklisted vehicles due to Passenger Tax can produce their documents and receipts and can get their vehicles out of the blacklist in seven days.
Another highlight of the meeting was regarding replacement of surrender permits for which the government has not agreed for replacement with the pre-existing permit for commercial vehicles above the age of 10 years but routes can be transferred in RTA meeting with the request of permit holders of passenger commercial vehicles.
