JAMMU, Jan 14: Transport Commissioner J&K Rajinder Singh Tara visited Kot Bhalwal Jammu to take stock of the construction Work of Institute of Driving Training & Research (IDTR) Jammu. Joint Transport Commissioner, Regional Transport officer Jammu, Executive Engineer R&B Division Nagrota and Alok Malik representative of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd were also present at construction site.
It was intimated that the project is being executed with a cost of Rs 17.00 crore and an amount of Rs. 8.35 crore has already been incurred till date.
The Transport Commissioner was apprised that the Project was earlier being executed by JKPCC and has recently been allotted to PWD. Officers from Executive Agency apprised Transport Commissioner that the Civil Construction Work in respect of Academic block, Workshop block has almost been completed and the finishing work of Hostel block is under progress.
Tara issued onspot instructions that work on Automated Driving Tracks be taken up immediately so that Maruti Suzuki India Ltd could start driving training / other allied activities and side by side other components of the projects are completed.
He intimated that the project is prestigious in nature and emphasised that the functioning of this dream project shall prove pivotal from the road safety point of view and would go a long way in minimising the rate of road accidents. The operationalization of the project would also help to bring more transparency in conducting Driving Skill Test of applicants besides imparting training to the drivers so as bring professionalism in their job .
The Transport Commissioner told the officers that he shall frequently visit to ensure early completion of the project. All steps shall be taken to remove the bottlenecks in order to carry on in a hassle free manner.
