The protestors assembled at Press Enclave here and demanded adequate teachers for the schools in the area. The protestors raised slogans in favor of their demands and accused the Education Department for showing indifferent attitude towards the community.
Mohammad Abbas, a protester, said that the primary and middle schools in the area have inadequate teachers and that is affecting the education of their children. “There are only two teachers in the middle school as the Government has transferred the contractual staff. There are nearly 100 students in the school,” he said, adding the primary school is also suffering as only 3 teachers are teaching 70 students.
He alleged that the department concerned did not allow them to enter inside their office. “We went to the Education Department to raise the issue with them, but they shoved us away,” he said.
The protestors threatened to intensify protests if their demands are not fulfilled. “We will hit roads if the Government fails to act,” he said.
