JAMMU, Aug 5: Ten- day training program for officials of Public Libraries from Jammu province, sponsored by Director Libraries and Research, J&K, Srinagar and  organized by Department of Library and Information Science, University of Jammu, Jammu, concluded with a valedictory function, this evening.
The training program was aimed at imparting training to officials for application of latest technology in libraries.
Prof R D Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, JU, was the chief guest on the occasion.  In his address, he urged the library professionals to adopt the latest technology for maintaining the libraries. He said application of Information Technology in libraries has helped a lot in maintaining the library records as well as serving the library users in a better way.
The Deputy Director Libraries and Research Jammu,   O P Sangral delivered valedictory address. He assured that better infrastructure will be provided in public libraries of Jammu province.
Earlier,  speaking on the occasion, Head of Department and Course Director, Prof  Sangita Gupta said that during the training programme, the participants were acquainted with the use of ICT tools in libraries and  the working of e-Granthalya, library Management Software developed by NIC, Delhi. She said such type of more programs will be organized in future for the Public Library professionals.
Certificates were also distributed among twenty participants of the programme.
The proceedings were conducted by Dr Meghna Dhar and Dr Bindu Sharma.  Formal vote of thanks was presented by P K Singh.
