JAMMU, July 7: The training programme for Medical Officers (MOs) under National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), held today at Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar.
The training program, organized by the office of the State Malariologist J&K under the supervision of Dr Rajeev K Sharma, Director Health Services Jammu, was for 2nd batch of MOs drawn from Samba and Reasi districts.
Dr Sanjay Turki, Deputy Director (Schemes) and Dr Parveen Yograj, Medical Superintendent, Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, were among the dignitaries present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Harjeet Rai (State Malariologist J&K) said that vector borne diseases especially Malaria and Dengue are outbreak prone and in recent years they have become one of the major public health concerns in India. He said that the vector born diseases can only be contained by the efforts of all stakeholders including Municipal Corporation, local bodies, Rural Development Department, Jal Shakti Department, etc and Health Department is working hard for its control.
Dr Parveen Yograj stressed that such training programmes should be routinely organized as the staff gets reoriented with the latest developments and guidelines for effective implementation of the National Programmes for the benefit of public at large.
A comprehensive training module covering salient aspects of the programme, including latest drug policy for Malaria, Clinical Management of Malaria & Dengue etc, digitally provided to the participants.
Dr Rakesh Bahl (Associate Professor, Community Medicine, GMC Jammu), Dr Sanjeev Gupta (Consultant Paediatrician, Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar) and Dr Prem Lata (Medical Officer, Epidemiologist/SSO, IDSP, Jammu) were among the resource persons for the training program.
