UDHAMPUR, Nov 17: CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicines, Jammu (CSIR-IIIM) organized one day training programme on “Cultivation, Processing and Marketing of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants” under JAAG project at Kalra College of Education, Udhampur here today.
In this programme, more than 200 farmers and entrepreneurs from Udhampur and Ramban districts participated. CSIR-IIIM scientists delivered lectures and displayed medicinal and aromatic plants, their cultivation technologies for awareness of farmers and also demonstrated the mobile distillation unit for extraction of essential oils for the benefit of farmers.
The main objective of the training programme was to create awareness among the farmers and growers for job and wealth creation through intensive cultivation of CSIR technologies of high value, low volume medicinal & aromatic crops in these districts.
Dr Suresh Chandra, Chief Scientist; Dr Qazi Parvaiz and Dr Narendra Kumar delivered technical lectures on medicinal and high value aromatic crops including Lavender, Rose, Lemongrass, Tegetes, Jammu Monarda, Phalsa and Mint species.
The programme was carried out under the guidance of Dr Ram Vishwakarma, Director, CSIR-IIIM, Jammu and Task Force Chairman of the JAAG Project.
