UDHAMPUR, Nov 21: A comprehensive three-day training program on social defence, focusing on issues such as transgender persons, beggary, and drug abuse, commenced at the Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) here today.
Held in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, this initiative, attended by 35 officers from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, aimed at enhancing the quality and standards of services provided to vulnerable groups requiring special and legal care.
The course is designed to deepen understanding on social issues, relevant service provisions, and provide exposure to real-world field situations, fostering innovation in the realm of social defence.
Addressing a gathering during the inaugural function, SSP Rajinder Gupta, Deputy Director SKPA, who was chief guest on the occasion, delved into various facets of social defence issues, including transgender concerns, beggary, drug abuse, and the care of the elderly.
He emphasized the pivotal role of participants in promoting justice, citizen well-being, and contributing to lasting societal safety.
“The overarching goal is to collaboratively build a safer and more inclusive society for all,” he said.
The course was coordinated by Vishal Manhas, Inspector, with support from ASI Rajinder Singh of SKPA.
