JAMMU, Sept 26: One-day training programme for Data Managers and DEOs cum Accountant under Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) under the supervision of Dr Rajeev K Sharma, Director Health Services (DHS) Jammu, held today at Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar.
The training programme was organized by the office of the State Surveillance Unit, Jammu Division. State Microbiologist, District Epidemiologists, District Microbiologists, Data Managers and DEOs cum Accountant from the districts of Jammu Division were the participants. Dr Poonam Mahajan, Deputy Director (Schemes), Dr Parveen Yograj, Medical Superintendent, Government Hospital, Jammu also attended the programme.
While speaking in the programme, Dr Harjeet Rai, Epidemiologist/State Surveillance Officer, Jammu Division explained the importance of IDSP programme and the surveillance of the diseases to detect early warning signals of any impending outbreak and help initiate and effective response in a timely manner by using IHIP.
He said with the help of IHIP in recent years surveillance at each health facility can be possible by just one click. “Various vector borne diseases, Zoonotic diseases and other communicable diseases (33+ health conditions) are managed on IHIP in coordination with various departments like Director Animal Husbandry, Municipal Corporation and other Local bodies,” Dr Rai added.
Presentations covering salient aspects of the IDSP-IHIP, briefing & expansion of IHIP, Reporting Units and their roles and responsibilities in diseases surveillance, principles of surveillance & implementation of early warning & response and outbreak investigation were given by the resource persons.
Dr Shehnaz Chowdhary (Medical Officer, Epidemiology Office), Dr Simran Nag (State Epidemiologist, IDSP) and Shalini Soodan (State Data Manager, IDSP Jammu Division) were among the resource persons for the training programme.
All the districts of Jammu Division presented power point presentation regarding their performance in past one year and their various issues/queries were also discussed/addressed during the session.
