The highway was again blocked due to falling of boulders in the same area at around 10.30 am today. With this, a large number of Kashmir and Leh bound vehicles loaded with essentials and oil tankers were stranded at Chanderkote, Nashri, Chenani and Jakheni (Udhampur) for about eight hours.
Even 30 SRTC buses carrying over 1200 people to Kashmir from Quarantine centres at Lakhanapur, Kathua and Samba also remained stranded for long. The highway could be restored at around 7 pm this evening, the official said.
He said that falling of boulders and shooting stones between Mehar and Cafeteria Morh in Ramban has become major hurdle and the concerned agencies have failed to ensure safety of the transport vehicles, passengers and operators and ensure proper flow of traffic on highway.
