Sir,
Recently concluded Traffic Awareness Week in the city of Jammu was not as effective as was expected. It did leave no imprints even in a very small measure in having a disciplined running of traffic of ever increasing number of vehicles.Emission levels of many vehicles are too high , even two wheelers are included. Such vehicles not properly serviced and tuned are spreading poisonous smoke on streets and spreading pollution. Violation of traffic rules are as usual, parking in the middle of roads are a routine matter, stopping of commercial passenger vehicles at designated stops only looks a far distant dream. Wrong way of parking of vehicles creates difficulties for the traffic movement. Traffic jams are getting more complexed and confusing with the other side not being given space and the dividing line is jumped off blocking the other side. Horns with high sounds and pressure horns are blown continuously even when stuck up in long jams. Much could be done if Traffic discipline was enforced with greater sense of responsibility otherwise it would rather become a luxury to drive on Jammu roads in next five years during day time.
Yours etc……
