Traditional Education v/s On Line Education

Dr Santosh Gupta

Both system of education has pros and cons but however On Line Education has taken a significant development since the advent of internet. On Line Education can be understood as any other education training that priminarily utilizes the internet to deliver course work, assignments and assessment from teacher to student. It also is a means for using on line programme or dedicated websites as the educational material and student can access this educational material to take tests, white papers and complete other work that will be evaluated by competent authorities . The term On Line Education refers to any sort of educational, pedagogical practice that uses internet as a means of transferring information which can be done in many ways. Although there is continuous debate on education system and expression of many people for the On Line Education is suspicious and non credit. But fact is that On Line Education has opened up a wealth of educational opportunity and possibility. Great care has to be taken that at what level education system should be On Line Education or Traditional system.
* Nursery to Primary education
Elementary knowledge of subjects with moral orientation should be On Line Education for the following reasons
a. Uniform education- Presently there is a lot disparity in the elementary education. Some students are studying under trees and others are enjoying 5- star culture in schools. The compulsory elementary education on uniform basis should be on line with no distinction between rich or poor and rural or urban area children. Criteria should be only to identify , explore and develop the hidden talent of the child.
b. Digital concept- The digital concept can be developed since childhood. As they grow the children will have an added advantage of new technology and concepts
c. No over burden or tension- Some students are over burdened with books and great tension created by private schools for good results. Some students do not have even a single book and Government school teachers do not bother for results as their job is secured
d. Better quality lectures-Uniform quality lectures from teachers can be ensured
e. No economic burden- government schools in almost every state are chronically underfunded and more and more teachers find it necessary to demand better fair and transfer. In rural areas there are fewer teachers and in urban areas teachers are attached with no work. So there is economic burden on Government. Private schools are charging huge and varying fee just for their infrastructure and paying less to teachers. So parents are under economic burden and tension
f. Safety issues- safety measures are lacking and small kids have to travel a lot in buses by paying transport charges for schools
Subpar conditions- Government as well as private schools are in subpar conditions. All tactics are used to attract children in the private schools and Government schools lack basic infrastructure
Great harassment for parents-Great harassment is there either interviewing parent for admission or may be parent teacher meet
Superiority or inferiority complexes- these complexes are developed among children just on the basis they are admitted in type of schools. Hidden talent of small children is neither being explored nor developed
Secondary Education- traditional education from class 6th to class 12th
Admission in these schools should be based on merit only. Every school must be under obligation to admit minimum 10 students for free education just on merit. There should be uniform syllabi with vocational courses and entrepreneurial development as compulsory subjects along with optional subjects. There should be uniform assessment on the basis of their merit . After completing this education on regular basis, the students should be competent for
a. To set up his/ her unit
b. Self dependent to earn livelihood
c. To appear for competitive examination for professional courses or other administrative or banking etc. After every competitive examination they must have a training courses 3-5 years for further rejection
Specialization or Professional Education- Specialization courses on regular basis for 3-5 years for further rejection should be for all competitive courses. It may be CA, IAS, Medicine, Engineering, Law, Economics and Commerce etc.
Postgraduate Education- There is need for great reform. So many courses are being taught, which have no relevance for their career. These institutions are overcrowded and have become more of political hubs. PhD theses are more lying in libraries as ornament with no application for Nation. A lot national income is being wasted. The institutions for the courses need to upgrade for research work in need based area of nation and sure to get jobs in their area of specialization.
