JAMMU, June 7: Associated Chamber of Traders Federation today strongly criticized the callous attitude of the authorities towards the worsening condition of power supply in Jammu.
A meeting of the Federation under the chairmanship of its president, Yash Pal Gupta, expressed resentment on the erratic power supply. He said that with the temperature soaring above 42 C, it has become impossible for the people to carry on their normal activities.
Gupta alleged that despite frequent appeals, memoranda and interactions with the authorities from different organizations, power supply has still remained pathetic. Blocking of Power Supply more than six hours, resorting to unscheduled power cuts, supplying single phase electricity many times and putting the people to great discomfort, smacks of lack of any system and discipline in PDD, maintained Gupta.
Gupta lamented that the common man, traders, the students preparing for examinations, the sick and invalid, the senior citizens, all are worried and do not know whom to approach to get rid of this problem because no one in the Government seems serious and accountable for his work and passing on responsibilities to others has become routine.
Gupta called upon the Government to make a clear-cut policy about the power supply and stick to it without any excuse. He added that if any officer fails to do his duty, he must be made accountable and should be held responsible for the dereliction of his duties.
