JAMMU, July 25: Kanak Mandi Traders Association (KMTA) has demanded removal of toll tax imposed on them at Lakhanpur Toll Plaza.
In a meeting of the Association held today, Anoop Mittal said that due to toll tax the consumers of Jammu Kashmir are paying more for goods as compare to other states. He said that due to toll tax which is against the spirit of GST, the trucks take one day extra to reach destination for which traders are paying more for carriage.
“This extra carriage also increases input cost. Moreover, GST is also charged on toll tax, extra freight thereby making goods costlier for consumers,” he said and demanded that toll tax be removed to give relief to traders and consumers of J&K and also to maintain spirit of GST i.e. one nation one tax.
Also present in the meeting were Rajesh Vaid (vice president), Anil Gupta (vice president), Ashish Gupta (general secretary), Vikas Gupta (secretary), Nikhil Gupta (treasurer) and many others.
