Srinagar, Jan 31: A faction of Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) has called for protest tomorrow and shutdown on Tuesday against the State Government’s reported proposal of not providing financial compensation to flood-affected traders.
Acting president of KTMF, Bashir Ahmad Rather, said the traders would hold a 2-hour long protest tomorrow in city centre Lal Chowk and then would march towards Raj Bhavan. “At Raj Bhavan we will present a memorandum,” he said.
“We were assured by the late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that the traders will be compensated on priority basis but unfortunately he passed away,” he said, adding: “we have come to know that the Government is now planning not to compensate us and the protest is against the reported move.
Warning Government of dire consequences, he said a shutdown on the call of KTMF would be observed on Tuesday across the Valley and demanded immediate financial rehabilitation of the traders.
