Trader’s body recovered, man found dead on track

UDHAMPUR, May 26: Mystery shrouds the death of 35-year-old shopkeeper whose dead body was recovered from the first floor of his shop at Jaganoo Morh here this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Jivan Kumar Gupta, son of Mulakh Raj, resident of  Kalai ( W.No. 17). The trader was missing since Friday evening. He used to lock his karyana shop from inside and sleep on the first floor. There was alternative passage (up-stairs) to the first floor where he had kept his godown as well.  There was lock on the main shutter of the shop and the family which resides it the town realised that Jivan must have gone somewhere. They kept searching for him.
Today morning adjoining shopkeepers observed foul smell coming from this building. They got suspicious and some how managed to reach up to the first floor. They found semi-decomposed body of Jivan lying on the first floor of the building. They informed police which rushed to the spot  and after spot examination shifted it to District Hospital Udhampur for postmortem. It was also observed that colour of the deceased’s body had turned blue. The police registered a case and started investigation.
Meanwhile, the dead body of a youth was recovered from railway track, near local railway station today. The deceased was later identified as Ajay Kumar (27), son of Balak Ram, resident of Kawa villae near Udhampur. The police shifted the body to hospital and later handed over to the family after postmortem. Inquest proceedings under Section  144 CrPC have been launched.
