Top LeT comdr trapped, woman killed in encounter

Srinagar, July 1:
Two militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) including Bashir Laskhar have been trapped in a village in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district this morning while a woman was killed during the encounter.

The trapped includes Bashir Lashkar. who police says, is behind killing of a Station House Officer (SHO) and 5 cops in Acchabal area of Anantnag.

The police officer along with 5 cops were killed last month in Anantnag after militants ambushed them and looted their weapons.

A Police spokesman said a woman was killed after she was caught in an exchange of fire during the operation. “The militants were using civilians a human shields, Rescue operations are underway”, he said.

Tahira,44, was rushed to a nearby hostipal but was declared death on her way, Search operations were initiated in Dailgam village in the district after security forces received information that two militants were hiding in the area including a top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander. The village was later cordoned off. There is no information yet on the status of the militants.
