Tony raises low wages issue of women cooks of primary, middle schools

R.S PURA, Oct 18: DDC Member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony today led a delegation of women cooks working in Government primary and middle schools to the Tehsildar R.S Pura and submitted a memorandum highlighting the problems of these womenfolk. Tehsildar R S Pura, Subu Shad accepted the memorandum on behalf of SDM R.S Pura and the memorandum will be further dispatched to Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha for redressal of the problems.
Speaking on the occasion Tony said that these women are working on a meagre salary of Rs. 1000 which is a mockery of the Government system.
He said that the meagre amount of Rs. 1000 is also not paid regularly and these women have to wait for months to get it.
“I will not sit quite until this discrimination and abuse of the hapless section of employees is not removed,” Tony maintained adding that this is an open violation of Minimum Wages Act.
He claimed that these women cooks are serving in the schools for more than 20 years but the government has not even bothered to give them increments.
He appealed to J&K LG to intervene into the matter to stop this injustice as soon as possible.
The delegation comprised of Veeran Devi, Sushma Kumari, Kamla Bhagat, Asha Kumari, Bismo Devi, Mandla Devi, Preeto Devi, Sunita Devi, Rathno Devi, Santosh Kumari, Maggo Devi, Raj Kumari, Kamlesh Kumari, Seema Devi, Neelam Kumari, Chanchal Devi and others.
