SUCHETGARH, Dec 8: Chairman of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Jammu and Kashmir for Administrative Engagement and Minority Affairs, and District Development Council (DDC) Member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony today said that the elected representatives of previous regime in the erstwhile J&K State miserably failed to address even the grave issues confronting the common people and remained busy in brazen loot of the natural resources of J&K.
The senior AAP leader expressed this while interacting with the people after starting development work worth Rs 27 crores in Suchetgarh constituency.
Tony asserted that things have changed after the democratically constituted DDCs and BDCs across the state as the people’s representatives in these Councils are instantly addressing their significant issues.
The DDC member today started work on a tube well at Nai Basti Bidhipur Jattan with an estimated cost of Rs 4 crore. He also started another work of tube well at Beaspur Paralah with an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore, which was the age-old demand of people of the area. The DDC Member started blacktopping and double laning of road works with an estimated cost of Rs 9 crore from Octroi Post Suchetgarh to RS Pura. He also initiated other developmental works in various villages started upto to the tune of Rs 2 crore.
Tony said that such development works will definitely boost the tourism sector and also give a fillip to Jammu’s economy. Tony also appreciated Lt Governor’s pilot program of Home Stay under the Tourism Sector. He appealed to the local residents of Suchetgarh and Nai Basti to create a neat and clean atmosphere at zero line by setting up home stay in their residence, which seems to be a new trend of business and can also generate revenue for farmers of the border town.
The senior AAP leader urged every section of society to come forward and support LG’s triage against corruption as it’s not one man’s job to eradicate corruption. Tony also appealed to the LG to look into the functioning of ACB which has changed the affidavit from the Court in the suspended Tehsildar Rohit Sharma’s case. He said more and more people are coming out openly to produce proof against Rohit Sharma and its team but ACB refuses to act fairly.
