Tom Hanks to pen book of short stories

LOS ANGELES, Nov 5: Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks is set to write a book of short stories, inspired from his obsession with typewriters.

Publishing house Alfred A Knopf announced today that the stories will be loosely connected to photographs of typewriters from the 58-year-old star’s collection, reported Entertainment Weekly.

Hank’s love for typewriters is well-documented, he even co-developed a typewriter app called Hanx Writer for the iPad.

“I’ve been collecting typewriters for no particular reason since 1978— both manual and portable machines dating from the thirties to the nineties. The stories are not about the typewriters themselves, but rather, the stories are something that might have been written on one of them,” Hanks said in a statement.

The book is yet to be titled, and a release date has not been set yet. The question remains on whether Hanks will write his book on a typewriter. (PTI)
